Women's Health

The Chinese speak of the 3 Doors of a woman’s health. This is a reference to the hormonal transitions a woman’s body may make during her lifetime; menarche and young womanhood, motherhood, then perimenopause and menopause. These times of change are seen as a door or opportunity to dramatically improve her vitality for a lifetime.

At Fayetteville Acupuncture and Wellness, I offer drug-free, natural solutions to help you move through these doors with grace and ease; laying the foundation for vibrant health in the years to come.

Adolescents and young woman

Adolescents and young women respond so well to natural medicine, yet many are over medicated today. While the Pill (synthetic hormones) is excellent birth control, it comes with risks as well as benefits. It should not be the go to option in treating painful or irregular periods in young girls. Consider acupuncture and/or herbal medicine for the following:

  • Dysmenorrhea (painful periods)
  • Irregular periods
  • Amenorrhea (no period)
  • Menorrhagia (heavy periods)
  • Headaches
  • PMS
  • Acne
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Anemia
  • ADHD
  • Eating Disorders

– Whether or not you are a biological mother, this is the full bloom of womanhood with all its’ joys and challenges.  Consider acupuncture and/or herbal medicine for the following:

  • Preconception Care (Healthy parents make a healthy baby.)
  • Fertility/IVF Preparation  (please see Fertility Tips and Fertility section of my website)
  • Pregnancy related conditions: morning sickness, back pain, breech baby, more
  • Preparation for Labor
  • Postpartum Recovery
  • Period Problems
  • PMS
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • IBS
  • Migraines
  • Stress

Wise Women

Perimenopause may begin 10 years before cessation of periods. The average age of menopause in the United States is 51. Now is the time to step up self-care and invest in your health. The things we could get away with in our 20’s or 30’s now take their toll!  Research on HRT shows risks.  Consider acupuncture and/or herbal medicine for the following:

  • Heavy periods (menorrhagia)
  • Irregular Periods
  • Painful Periods
  • Palpitations
  • Hot flashes
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Back pain and joint pain
  • Adjunctive to therapy it helps us let go of old patterns and behaviors
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Facial Rejuvenation
