The Chinese speak of the 3 Doors of a woman’s health. This is a reference to the hormonal transitions a woman’s body may make during her lifetime; menarche and young womanhood, motherhood, then perimenopause and menopause. These times of change are seen as a door or opportunity to dramatically improve her vitality for a lifetime.
At Fayetteville Acupuncture and Wellness, I offer drug-free, natural solutions to help you move through these doors with grace and ease; laying the foundation for vibrant health in the years to come.
“If there is no free flow there is pain, establish free flow and there will be no pain.”
This is the basic premise of acupuncture; that pain results from poor blood flow, habituation of the nervous system and interrupted communication in the connective tissues of the body. Acupuncture points are like switches or keys that re-establish smooth flow, thereby allowing your body to heal.
Natural and Integrative Care.
My knowledge of Chinese medicine helped me to have my own children late in life and being part of bringing new life into the world is one of the joys of my practice.
Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a disorder that occurs in women during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. PMS is common; between 50% and 70% of women, or more than 1 in 2, suffer from PMS. One woman in 20 suffers so severely that their lives are seriously disrupted. There are 150 physical and emotional symptoms that women may experience. However, the most commonly reported symptoms are:
Average male sperm count in 1940 was 113 million per ml, whilst in 1990 it had dropped to 66 million per ml. Furthermore, the volume of semen dropped, making the reduction in total numbers of sperm per ejaculation 50%. Today 40% of all cases of infertility is thought to be due to male subfertility.

In Chinese medical terms, endometriosis is largely due to Blood Stagnation in the Uterus. However, this is only the outward manifestation of the disease, and the Chinese medical practitioner works to establish the underlying cause of the congealed blood.
Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue (ie the cells lining the interior of the uterus) grows in other parts of the pelvic cavity, outside the uterus. The endometriosis can be found on the muscle of the uterus, the ovaries, bowels, vagina, bladder and appendix. The endometrial tissue responds to oestregen and progesterone, and may bleed during menstruation.
Anxiety disorders effect almost 1 in 5 Americans. Symptoms can be as severe as a panic attack or may present as a general sense of feeling unsettled and worried. Western treatments generally consist of drug therapies which can be helpful but may have side effects. Chinese medicine is a safe and effective way to relieve anxiety with both immediate and long-lasting results. Acupuncture can be a stand alone treatment or safely used in combination with medication and therapy.
Experts estimate that up to 80% of the population will have back pain at some time in their lives. Acupuncture is a popular treatment used to help alleviate back and neck pain. Tiny needles, about the size of a human hair, are inserted into specific points on the body. Each needle may be twirled, electrically stimulated, or warmed to enhance the effect of the treatment.
For more than 3,500 years acupuncture has been providing relief to people around the world. Originally developed in China, this soothing therapy is today embraced by people who seek to optimize health and alleviate symptoms caused by ailments that range from arthritis to migraines to morning sickness.
During a treatment special points on the body are stimulated to activate our body’s natural ability to heal.
Acupuncture sessions generally run about 1 hour. Patients lie on a heated, padded table and soft music plays in the background. Some patients say they feel sensations during the treatment, which is good – because that means healing energy is moving through the body. But many people fall asleep.
